You are welcome to join groups of residents and youth who work to preserve the Yarkon River area. The activity includes providing information for the traveling public, tutorials, etc.
The authority functions include activities in the field of pollution prevention, stream leisure and training for kite and recreational needs.
Since the authority began its activities, there has been a significant improvement in the quality of the Yarkon water and its surroundings. The restoration and maintenance work of the Yarkon River occupies an important and primary place in the work of the Authority. The Authority works regularly to treat the channel and its banks, rehabilitate vegetation and regulate the area for the benefit of local animals, remove alluvium and clean the channel, and promote community activities for the benefit of learning, enjoyment and preservation of the Yarkon area.
Along the Yarkon River and its banks, there is a variety of habitats that differ from each other in the physical conditions in which: the quality of the water, their depth and the speed of their flow. These differences affect, among other things, the nature of the vegetation in the water and the banks and in the animals that inhabit the various sections.
The “River Watchers” program combines study and familiarity with streams and water sources in the immediate area, along with activities to rehabilitate and develop the streams and make them accessible to communities living next to them. The program is delivered to diverse target audiences: students, youth movements, active residents, etc. The program was written and conducted under the leadership of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and the Ministry of Education, in collaboration with drainage authorities and streams and other organizations.
The community activity that the Yarkon River Authority promotes together with the local authorities takes place throughout the year. Special activities on holidays and festivals are held at the initiative of the additional bodies in the field.
